ABLE's hull has no caulked seams. Most folks assume she has a fiberglass hull. When she was built, her full-length planks were glued together with resorcinol, which seems to have served her well....unless she was allowed to dry out. A few cracked, sistered frames exist where, evidently, epoxy was added to gaping seams which probably opened from drying-out on the beach. When relaunched, the planks swelled but had nowhere to go until frames cracked along the seam.

Note-to-self: don't keep her out of the water!
